Lighten the load this Christmas

December 11, 2023

In the midst of various Christmas-related conversations last week—perhaps sparked by my recent post, the law of attraction, or the approaching holiday season—one discussion stood out. As we women shared our Christmas plans, it was clear that many of us were mentally bracing ourselves to "survive" the holiday season.

It got me thinking - How often do we prepare ourselves for the stress that Christmas might bring? What if, instead of focusing on the negatives and feeling anxiety, we shifted our mindset to connecting with others and establishing healthy boundaries? Does this concept strike a chord with you? And if it does, what practical strategies could we implement to initiate this shift? Maybe it involves putting up less decorations, simplifying cleaning routines, or simplifying our cooking plans. The changes don't need to be drastic—small adjustments can work wonders.

I often find myself in a familiar scenario. I start off enthusiastic about the dishes I want to create, researching and dreaming about them. But as the time comes closer, that excitement disappears and suddenly, it all feels like a chore.

This year, I’ve decided to simplify. I’ll purchase a Pavlova and decorate it with fruit, maybe preparing just one special dish. No elaborate plans. How about you? Let's lighten the load on ourselves this Christmas.
