When you feel anxious, you feel like the present is meaningless and the future is scary. One way to deal with anxiety is to take care of yourself and your needs. How to do it?
When your mind is in chaos and you are tormented by anxious thoughts, it is difficult to escape the feelings of overwhelming weakness and sadness. Therefore, it is extremely important to develop the habit of listening to your own needs and finding ways of satisfying them. A tired mind has difficulty resting, ‘cos it’s focused on constant fighting, instead of relaxing just when you need it most.
You have to take care of yourself – and it's not being selfish. Taking care of yourself is more than just taking care of your body or buying yourself gifts. It's more about doing things that help you regain peace and reducing stress. First, create and add the new daily self-care ritual to your agenda.
Excessive worry and a sense a lack of control over your life are the most common signals that your mind is in fear, and many people don't try to do anything about it believing it's just the way they are. Others immediately seek help in the form of medications. However, there is still an indirect solution, which involves changing some habits or introducing, for example, one simple action.
First of all, notice and calm your thoughts. How? A calm mind needs a safe space - so find one. A safe space may be an armchair, bench or window chair with a calming view. This is your comfort zone, in which you should spend 15-20 minutes a day. This is not laziness/doing “nothing”. It is important. Let this be time you devote to connecting with your inner self and checking how you feel and what you need that day.
Such a safe space allows us to enjoy a moment of solitude. Only then do we have a chance to conduct a positive internal dialogue. This is the moment when your needs come first. You have the opportunity to listen to your worries and conduct an inner dialog to find a solution. This”you” time helps you to rationalize fears and ease feelings of anxiety.
You may perceive this example as trivial, but we are here to suggest to you ways/tools that will help you make positive changes in your life, even if they may initially seem banal. In our space, we share activities that are effective. We have said many times that you don’t need a big action, but an action which "does the job" ;)
